Postage
Postage costs will normally be met by the buyer, whether home or abroad. For considerations of time and safety, books will normally be sent by recorded delivery (or equivalent) at home, and by air mail abroad, unless contrary instructions are received.
Accounts
These should be settled within 30 days. Overseas customers are respectfully asked to settle their accounts as promptly as possible as evidence that goods have been received safely and satisfactorily. The usual extended terms are offered to libraries and institutions. Any trade discounts are at the discretion of the proprietor. Where catalogues are concerned, trade discounts may not apply when catalogues are first issued. Discounts on very large purchases are, of course, a matter for negotiation between the relevant parties.
Payments
Payment of account can be made by any conventional method. Personal cheques can be sent. You may also send money orders or remit directly to my bank. Details are:
Barclays Bank PLC: Hull Group of Branches: P.O. Box No. 11, HU1 2JB, UK
Sort Code: 20-43-47
Account Number: 90495565
Account Name: Humber Books
Alternately, payments can be made by any regular credit card. For new customers, and for small amounts, this is the preferred method. It avoids the delays and costs of negotiating cheques. It also provides a degree of security for both parties. Please make sure that you send all the car details: the number, expiry date, name on card and security number on reverse of card (if applicable).
Exchange Rates
Prices quoted on catalogues are in pounds sterling and US dollars. The exchange rate quotes are for customers convenience. As they are set well before catalogues ever go out, they sometimes carry a small premium to allow for sudden fluctuation in currency, and to allow for costly bank charges at this end. Customers are respectfully asked not to alter rates quoted without prior consultation. Of course, payments made by credit card will be processed as pounds sterling at this end, and appear as debits to the customers account according to the rate on the day they were made.
Return of Goods
Books may be returned for reasons of serious faults in description. Please indicate your desire first, and then return the goods promptly in case others are still interested in the same.
Want Lists
Want lists are welcome, but they are not a first priority with us. We do not operate a Book Search facility. For regular customers, time will always be found to list them any specific book that they have requested. Theology listed is only a fraction of books in stock, so it is always possible that I may have what you want.
Books Purchased
You may wish to dispose of Antiquarian Theology or Old Bibles. We are very happy to consider purchasing the same, but would normally expect vendors to name a price. If we cannot meet that price we will let you know an affordable price and the decision will be in your court. We especially welcome books in those areas of special interest; that is, Puritan books, be they commentaries, lectures, sermons, devotional treatises or collected works. Where Bibles are concerned, I prefer to purchase works printed before 1700, with the obvious exception of facsimiles, and bibliography, or other interesting works of later dates.
