'ALS Folded Folio. Mounted On Larger Paper. 19 Linces. Dated Londre Li 25 November 1852'
Addressed to Signore Cardinal G.Du-Pont, Arcio di Bourges. Written in neat Italian hand, translating thus; ''The happy recurrance of the Holy Celebrations of Christmas, and the happy arrival of the new year gives me the desired opportunity to offer to the Almighty my enthusiastic wishes so that He would deign/condescend to bestow the most wonderful gifts from Hs Heavenley Grace towards the Emminence * by blessing all those who meditate for His glory, and in giving them even more years of life and happiness. His benevolence towards me is so great that in these times he is wishing me that many pains flee from my heart, and based upon these wishes, I am excited in renewing all my gratitude and showing the deep respect in which I have (always) been and I remain by always humbly kissing his hands.
* This word 'emminence' means 'the important one / an important person'. Could it be the Pope ? It has often been used in French history when mentioning the Pope.

Nicholas Patrick Stephen Wiseman (1802 - 1865), Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster. Greatly influenced the development of the Oxford Movement. He gained wide repute as a lecturer on social, artistic & literary topics. After Wisemans elevation to Cardinal in 1850 with its revival of Catholic hierarchy, there was a Protestant backlash for the next year or two.
