'Richard Watson (Methodist). ALS. Folded Folio. 3pp. 49 Lines. Dated ''City Road, December 2. 1830''
Addressed to Rev.Isaac Mann, 46 Long Lane, Bermondsey, London. Date stamped. Concerns 'General Redemption' as distinct from the 'Calvinistic Brethren'. With a promise to send Mann a volume on the subject that Watson had written. With a contemporary engraved portrait of Richard Watson, Secretary to the Wesleyan Methodist Missions.
Mann (1785-1831) was originally a Wesleyan himself but became a Baptist Minister. Interesting that for Manns own work on the Atonement, Brown University made him A.M. in 1825. Richard Watson was one of the most influential of the Wesleyan Ministers. President of the Conference in 1826. He was born at Barton on Humber in 1781 not far from own residence here at Humber Books.
